Barnwood Craft Ideas
My husband and I were lucky enough to have an old barn on our property. We were really lucky to find someone who could tear it down for us. I was really keen to keep the wood and materials from it because I'd heard of several people doing all kinds of crafts and other things with it. I had seen some lovely things that I would love to try making!
I came across this lovely storage box with home letters and flowers in a pot on a wooden background. It was so pretty and rustic, just like a little piece of cottage living! I hadn't seen everything there was to make with barn wood, so I went to Google and searched for barn wood craft ideas. I found so many new things I hadn't seen before and thought these ideas were pretty easy to do.
I also saw that some people had used barn wood to decorate their homes, which looked really lovely! I absolutely loved the look of this, and I had enough wood for it, but I just didn't want to take on a big project like this. I just wanted to make a few things with what I had left, nothing too ambitious!
After looking through all the lovely things I could make, I decided that signs would be the easiest to make. I wouldn't need that many things to complete this project, which is great! I thought I'd get a few things from the craft store, like some fabric and paint for the sign. I was really excited to see how it would turn out, so I didn't buy a whole lot of stuff. I'm not the best at crafts, and this is one of the first times I've made a sign!
I told my husband how big I needed the wood to be cut and when I got home, he'd already done it for me! I was all set to get started and had everything I needed! I found the loveliest saying to paint on the sign and thought I'd give that a go first.
I made a few little mistakes with the lettering, and it didn't turn out quite how I had expected, but that's okay! That was totally fine with me because I knew it wouldn't be perfect, especially since it was the first time I had ever done it.
I gave it another go a little later and got it just right. It looked exactly the way I had pictured it in my mind. I decided I wanted to make barn wood crafts like signs as gifts for people. I found several different sayings I could paint on the signs.I was lucky enough to have lots of lovely barn wood to make them.
I'm so happy to say that everything I've made has turned out really nicely! I got a little bored with the signs, so I've been on the lookout for other barn-wood crafts to try since I have so much material! The few other things I did didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped, but I know with a little more practice I'll be able to make them look even better! I've also been thinking about selling some of these signs because they look pretty nice. I have enough to give as gifts and I may be able to get a little extra money for Christmas by selling these signs and other crafts I've been trying to make!
